Nov 1-3 (Fri-Sun) Backpack Seminar at Nesika

Please join us again this year for our annual Backpack seminar. We will have 3 speakers discussing ways to reduce pack weight, where to hike, when to hike and to answer questions. We will discuss blister prevention. Slide shows will be presented by the speakers. We will have new books to check out for learning about backpacking. We will raffle new equipment. We can discuss where everyone would like to go and get more interest in members leading all classes of backpacks in our great North West.
We will have a $50 registration fee; this will cover lodging, food and our speakers (to cover and their travel). There is a $20 registration fee for those just comming for the day. We will have the lodge open on Friday if you are interested in coming up early, bring your own food. We will have a hike leader at Multnomah Falls at 8:00 AM Saturday AM to lead the hike into the lodge, or the gate will be open at 8:00 AM on Larch Mtn Road. Seminar starts at 10:00 promptly.

Nov 21 (Thu) Adventures in TIME Travel

This month's slideshow will have a twist: no mountains, no trails and we'll never leave Portland. We'll focus on the history of South Portland (roughly the area under the OHSU tram), which was the city's Little Italy and Jewish Quarter a century ago. Retired sociology professor Arnold Panitch and TCO member Ken Kane will take you on a multi-decade tour of Portland's first immigrant community -- a neighborhood largely wiped out in the 1960s by urban renewal. From horse-cart peddlers and Carnegie Libraries, to kosher Italian delis and streetcar lines 125 years apart, South Portland has seen it all. Now you can, too.
7:00pm Refreshments. 7:30pm Slideshow.
Rose Villa Fellowship Hall, 13505 SE River Road, Milwaukie.
