Hike 6 miles with slight elevation gain to an environmental learning area in the Molalla River corridor.
Forested hike. Bring lunch and water.

July 10 (Wed) Angels Rest Sunset Hike - Class A
Hike to Angels Rest and maybe explore a little higher up the trail if the
group wants. Start back at 8:30 (Sunset is at 8:59). Bring a headlamp, water
and a snack. The view from here is beautiful in the evening and the crowds
aren't as bad. Hike 5.5 miles round trip with 1500 feet elevation gain.
Depart: Gateway Park and Ride at 5:45 PM or Angels Rest parking lot at 6:30

July 12-14 (Fri-Sun) Hike to Nesika Lodge Work Weekend - Class B
Register with lodge host for meals and overnight stay if you take that option.
Let's hike up to Nesika on Friday. A 2:00 PM guided return hike is offered
on Sunday. Head back earlier on your own if you need to. Bring your sleeping
bag and a headlamp. Bring work gloves if you plan to work. Hike 8 miles round
trip with 1800 feet elevation gain.
Depart: 6:00 PM Friday - Multnomah Falls outside the restrooms.

July 13 (Sat) Nesika Lodge Membership Hike - Class B
Beautiful trek up to the historic and tranquil grounds of Nesika Lodge,
resplendent with a babbling creek, lush woods and moderate elevation along
the way. If you would like to become a club member, this hike and lodge visit
meet all membership requirements. Trails Club folks will be at the lodge
working so it will be open for your visit. Bring water and lunch or snacks.
Hike about 8 miles round trip with about 1800 feet elevation gain.

July 13-14 (Sat-Sun) Nesika Worktrip
Join us on the weekend of July 13 and 14 in the Columbia River Gorge.
We will be working on the outdoor use area and doing trailbrushing.
We will also be painting and cleaning, hauling wood.
We can find a chore suitable for your volunteer talents.

July 18 (Thu) Picnic - "Eat 'N' Hike"
Meet at Gabriel Park, SW 45th Ave and Vermont. Eat at 6:00 PM, Hike leaves at 7:00 PM or so.
Picnic is a potluck. Bring tableware and some kind of dish to share.
Picnic tables are East of the SW Community Center, just south of Vermont St.

July 19-21 (Fri-Sun) Wyeth/North Lake/Herman Creek Backpack - Class C
This is a qualifying trip for the Ross Lake Loop Backpack in August. Hike
about a 20-25 mile loop, depending on group decisions. Water crossings. Limit 8.
Hard climb up to North Lake where we spend the first night. Then travel
south to the rim with a good view of Mt. Hood, across the saddle, and drop
down to Herman Creek.

July 20 (Sat) Pioneer Bridal Trail - Class A
With the help of a car shuttle we will hike 4 downhill miles in the Mt. Hood area. If you are doing the hike only, leader may be able to arrange carpools from Portland. July 20-21 (Sat-Sun) Trapper Creek Loop Backpack - Class B
Cancelled - due to no interest.
Backpack to Observation Peak in the Trapper Creek Wilderness. We'll backcountry
camp near the summit where there's no water. Bring containers to fill at
a water source a mile or so below the summit. Bring lightweight tent, sleeping
bag, the 10 Essentials, 2 lunches, 2 dinners and 1 breakfast. This hike is

trip with 2600 feet elevation gain. Application form and Emergency Contact

Hike 5 miles downhill on Mt. Hood with the help of a car shuttle.

July 21 (Sun) Silver Star MT. - Class B
Hike an 8 mile loop from Grouse Vista trailhead, climb 2000 feet past Pyramid
Rock to the summit, returning past Sturgeon Rock on the Tarbell trail. Silver
Star Mountain is a wildflower paradise and has 360' views from the summit.
Drive 80 miles round trip, with the last 8 on gravel.

Jul 22 (Mon) Springwater-fairview loop - Class B
This 25 mile SE Portland loop will be largely on dedicated bike paths,
utilizing the I-205 bike path, Springwater Corridor bike path, Gresham-Fairview
bike path, and the Marine drive bike path with a few connecting roads. It
is relatively level (425 feet total ascent) with a lunch stop in Blue Lake
park and a 12-15 mph pace with frequent regroups as needed.

July 25 (Thu) Lake Oswego Historical Bike Tour - Class B
This special ride will focus on the historical neighborhood of our own Trails
Club members Ann Marie Dudley and Ralph Rogers whose relatives were instrumental
in the development of Lake Oswego. Length 25 miles with rides across the
Oregon City bridge, through West Linn, Lake Oswego, Trion Park and Selwood
Br to Milwaukie. Alternate shorter ride is available. Call leader for details.

July 27-28 (Sat-Sun) Tyee work Party
The goal for this month is to get started on some of the projects identified
at our Spring meeting. Some of the projects are to replace the three wood
bridges, remodel the fire escape to be child safe by current building standards,
replace the seats on the kitchen deck with benches that can be portable or
fold up to allow the deck to be cleaned. There will undoubtedly be additional
needs identified by the end of the June work party.

July 28 (Sun) Independence/Buena Vista Bike Ride - Class B
A mid summer ride thru the farmlands and fields of Polk County. Mostly a
flat ride with some rolling hills. The ride begins in Independence. We ride
west to Monmouth, south to Helmick State Park, east to the Buena Vist Ferry
for a lunch stop and then return to Independence. Bring lunch and lots of
water. Ride 28/30 miles.

July 28 (Sun) Tyee Lodge Membership Qualifying Hike - Class A
View ski trails without snow, visit cozy Tyee Lodge, and fulfill club membership
requirements all at the same time. Hike 4 miles with approximately 800 feet
elevation gain on parts of 4 trails. At the lodge, snack or eat your lunch
and meet members working on maintenance tasks.
Depart: 10:00 AM from Government Camp rest area on Hwy 26, outside restrooms.
