Let's Talk About

First Aid Thoughts – Blisters

Hike leaders should encourage any hiker who mentions foot pain to immediately stop and check for hot spots. Covering a reddened area with moleskin may prevent a blister. Be sure that the sock fits properly and that the shoe laces are tightened for downhill travel. Once the blister has formed, molefoam with a donut hole over the blister can relieve pain. Don’t encourage hikers to break the blister if at all possible.
