March 1 (Sun) Multnomah Creek / Waukeena Falls hike – Class B

Please join me for this Waterfall Lovers paradise stroll. Hike length is 7 miles with 2,000 feet elevation gain. We should be back before 4PM. I Suggest small pack pack, lunch, plenty of water and good hiking shoes. Adequete parking available between East on West bound lane of I-84. Please RSVP if adequate interest we can carpool from my home to save gas. My residence is on the way just off 202nd and Division. 1260 NW Bella Vista Court, Gresham.

March 4 (Wed) Morning Hike – Class A/B

We begin our hike at 9:30 am and hike 4 to 6 miles, for 2 to 4 hours, somewhere in the Portland metropolitan area, often in Forest Park. We then have lunch at a nearby cafe.
Depart: Promptly at 9:30 from Friendly House, NW 26th and NW Thurman.

March 6-8 (Fri-Sun) Macks Canyon to Mouth of Columbia River Backpack Class B


Harris Ranch

This 23 mile trail extends from Macks Canyon north to the Deschutes State Park near the mouth of the Deschutes River. We will hike only around 5-7 miles day one as the going is slow. We will do up to 10-11 miles on Saturday and a little less on Sunday. Usually we are at the car by noon. Day 1 we will hire a shuttle driver to take our car to the take out on Sunday. We will pass the historic Harris Ranch: A homestead formally inhabited by pioneer settlers, Harris Ranch features a barn, corrals and even a sheep-shearing machine at this "Little House on the Prairie" style destination.

Week-2

March 11 (Wed) Morning Hike – Class A/B

We begin our hike at 9:30 am and hike 4 to 6 miles, for 2 to 4 hours, somewhere in the Portland metropolitan area, often in Forest Park. We then have lunch at a nearby cafe.
This week we will start at Sellwood Riverfront Park, crosss the Sellwood Bridge and climb to the top of Riverview Cem.; with super views while descending. The round trip is about 4 mi. & 400 v-ft.
Meet at: 9:30 at the (free) parking lot of Sellwood Riverfront Park on the E. bank of the Willamette R. It is just N. of the Sellwood bridge. If you need to cross the river, the Ross Island bridge will be faster. There are restrooms at the start, but none later. Oaks Park is just past our park. Bus stops are on SE 13th Ave near Tacoma St. or Nehalem St.

March 18 (Wed) Morning Hike – Class A/B

This week we will be going up to the summit of Council Crest.
Meet at: 9:30 AM at the intersection of SW 18th and SW Spring St. If you need an address, this is right down the block from the Vista Springs Café (where we will have lunch).

March 19 (Thur) Adventures in Travel, Camino de Santiago

Nancy Panich hiked alone for two months along the pilgrim trail from Saint Jean Pied du Port in France to the Cathederal of Santiago de Compostela, Spain, and on to Finisterre and Muxia on the Atlantic Ocean. She shares with much humor the places and people that helped make this such an interesting 500 mile journey. Please join us to see her adventure and to learn from her experiences if you are planning on doing this pilgrimage. Social Hour 6:30 PM, program starts 7 PM Please bring a snack to share or $1 donation to defray costs. Guests are welcome!

March 20-21 (Fri-Sat) Silver Falls State Park Hike - Class B

I have a reservation to stay the night in space 003. Room for seven more in my 31 ft RV. We will hike the Trail of 10 waterfalls after breakfast Saturday. Come along Friday or meet us there Saturday for the hike. The entire hike (awesome) is 8 miles but there are two opportunities in loop to shorten it if necessary. I have done this 3 times and can't get enough of it.

March 20-23 (Fri-Sun) Tyee Family Friendly Snow Weekend

Finally there is snow and we can do some snowshoeing and sledding! Hosts are Diane Brooke and Mike Haasken. Would anyone like to be the cook? Lodge opens at 1:00 on Friday and closes at noon on Sunday. If we don't find a cook, we will all bring something and potluck.

March 25 (Wed) Morning Hike – Class A/B

We begin our hike at 9:30 am and hike 4 to 6 miles, for 2 to 4 hours, somewhere in the Portland metropolitan area, often in Forest Park. We then have lunch at a nearby cafe.
Today we will meet at Westmorland, walk part of the Springwater Trail including the triple bridge, then return thru the Eastmorland neighborhood. After the hike, we are only a short drive from the Iron Horse Restaurant.
Meet: 9:30 AM, Assemble by the brick HQ building.
To reach the meeting place, from the north exit McLaughlin Blvd at the Selwood exit, do a quick right and then left onto 22nd, and park on 22nd or a side street.
From the south or west, come east on Bybee from Selwood, then right on 22nd.

March 28 (Sat): Bunker Hill & Whistle Punk Hikes - Class: Stiff A

Two, Two, two hikes in one. Moderately steep ascent of Bunker Hill is rewarded with nice (weather permitting) views. Followed up with a stroll through rail-logging history on the Whistle Punk loop. Hope for dry weather. But be prepared for something else. Vehicles will need to display a NW Forest Pass.
Hike: 5.8 miles w/ 1,350' elevation gain; Drive: 90 r/t miles
Leave: 8:30 AM from Lewis & Clark State Park (I-84, exit 18)

March 28-29 (Sat-Sun): Nesika Open - Host Only Cancelled

Nesika will be open from Saturday 11 am to 2 pm Sunday. Bring your own food and we will pot luck. The water system may still be shut off for winter.

March 29 (Sun) Mirror Lake / Tom, Dick and Harry Hike - Class A/B

We will hike from the trailhead to Mirror Lake (A - 3 miles) or Tom, Dick and Harry Peak (B- 6.6 miles). Mirror Lake is at an elevation of 4,100 ft at the Lake. Tom Dick and Harry peaks at 4,900 feet. Bring plenty of water and a lunch.
Meeting Place: Tyee will be open (Host Only, see above). You can meet us at the Lodge for breakfast around 8:30 or meet at 11:00 AM at the Mirror Lake trailhead. A NW Forest Pass Required at Trailhead.
