Dec 3 (Wed) Morning Hike – Class A/B

We begin our hike at 9:30 am and hike 4 to 6 miles, for 2 to 4 hours, somewhere in the Portland metropolitan area, often in Forest Park. We then have lunch at a nearby cafe.
This week we hike on Mt. Talbert. Take I-205 south to Sunnyside/Sunnybrook, east on Sunnybrook, south on 97th, becomes Mather, uphill, lot on left.

Dec 10 (Wed) Morning Hike – Class A/B

We begin our hike at 9:30 am and hike 4 to 6 miles, for 2 to 4 hours, somewhere in the Portland metropolitan area.
This week join Ken Kane for an interpretive history hike through River View Cemetery on Portland's southwest side. Many Portland's pioneers, politicians and philanthropists are buried there. Come learn a bit about them and we traverse the grounds.
Meet at 9:30am at Ken's house, 37 SW Canby St., Portland. Note: there will be no Friendly House pick-up.

Dec 13 (Sat) Hamburger Hike - Class A

This fun, little hike follows the Gorge 400 Trail from Eagle Creek to Cascade Locks for lunch (bring your own or purchase something) at the CharBurger. Return to cars by the same trail. Hope for sun, but be prepared for something else. Vehicles will need to display a NW Forest Pass. Hike: 5.2 miles w/ 700' (cumulative) elevation gain Drive: 60 R/T miles
Depart: 10:00 AM from Lewis & Clark State Park (I-84, Exit 18)

Dec 18 (Thur) Adventures & Travel - Hells Canyon and Rogue River Backpack Trips

Eight avid backpackers chose to repeat their favorite trails in 2014. Four days in Hells Canyon in April and five days along the Rogue River in May. Come and see how different and beautiful these canyons are. Presented by Gerda Eck.
Location: Rose Villa Rec Hall. 13505 SE River Rd, Milwaukie.
Social Hour 6:15 PM, program starts 7 PM Please bring a snack to share or $1 donation to defray costs. Guests are welcome!

Driving directions for Rose Villa Rec room: From River Rd, Turn west at blinking yellow light, which is Courtney Rd, travel West 1 block to Shroeder Lane, turn right and park along this road. Near end of road turn right by hedge before a row of garages, and turn right again down a ramp to basement location. Treasure House signs will also get you there.

Week-4

Dec 24 (Wed) Morning Hike – Class A/B

This week’s hike begins at the intersection of SW Boundary and SW Corbett streets in SW Portland. This is close to 5221 SW Corbett. Please arrive ready to depart promptly at 9:30. Hike will be 4-5 miles with 500 feet elevation gain. We will then have lunch at Elephant’s Deli. Call or email the leader with any questions.

Week-5

Dec 27th - Jan 1 (Sat - Thur) New Years at Nesika Lodge. Class B backpack.

We will have Nesika open for the mentioned dates. Bring your own food and prepare for potluck. Only way to get in is to hike in the 4.5 miles up Multnomah Creek. If you would like to hike up with Glen and I, meet at 11:00 Saturday AM at Multnomah Falls. Ensure you have shoe spikes or instep crampons. Trail gets glazed over with ice and can be hazardous. Come up and talk about the coming years backpacks. Enjoy a cozy fire.

Dec 30-Jan 2 (Tues-Fri) Tyee New Year's Celebration

Bring your kids and grandkids! Join us for our annual New Year’s Celebration at Tyee Lodge. The family friendly event includes two Movie Nights and Dancing Til Midnight on New Year’s Eve. Keeping with tradition, we will be snowshoeing to watch the firework show over the mountain at midnight to ring in the New Year. Russ and Krin Hunt are your hosts. Meals: Dinner 30th - Baked Zita, 31st- Turkey Feast with all the trimmings, 1st-Handmade Pizza, Breakfast will be included, Lunch (optional) Hot Homemade Soup and Sandwiches for $5 (2.50 kids) or bring your own lunch. Brings snacks for New Year’s Eve to share. Plan on having fun in the snow, relaxing by the warm fire and enjoying the family environment.

Dec 31 (Wed) Morning Hike – Class A/B

STAIR-O-RAMA The last hike of the year will highlight climbing approximately 750 stairs in NW Portland. We will climb some familiar stairs at the beginning of the walk and some unfamiliar sets of stairs near the end. There is a point about half way through the walk when we are at Burnside and NW 24th place where you may leave the hike and return to the starting point if you wish. We will return to Friendly House between 11:30 and 12:00. Crackerjacks is NOT open that day so lunch will be on your own. Most of the downhill will be on streets with only a modest number of stairs to descend.
Meet at Friendly House at NW 26th and Thurman to depart promptly at 9:30 AM.
