All visitors and Trails Club members are encouraged to enjoy the great Northwest outdoors by selecting a hike, bike ride or other event from this calendar. Gentle Reminders provides explanation of hike difficulty and hike guideline. Detail description of common meeting is available at Meeting Places.

Oct 1 (Wed) Morning Hike – Class A/B

We hike to Council Crest.
Depart: 9:30 AM from Ainsworth School at 2425 SW Vista Ave.
No pick up at Friendly House.

Oct 1 (Wed) Evening Hike – Class B

We will hike approximately 6 miles in Forest Park and the West Hills with 500 foot elevation gain (not cumulative).
Depart: 6:00 PM from Wallace Park between NW 25th and 26th on NW Raleigh St.

October 2 (Thu) Willamette Park to Zoo and Back Bike Ride - Class A+

We'll ride from Willamette Park to Goose Hollow, MAX up to the Zoo and ride back down to Willamette Park. Most of the ride is on city streets and there are some hills, both up and down (so this is a bit harder than my usual rides). Between 15-20 miles. Bring $$ and/or a ticket for the MAX ride. We’ll probably go somewhere for lunch after the ride. Please let me know by Wednesday Oct 1 at 9 pm if you plan to attend, in case I need to cancel because of weather.
Meet: 9:45 am for a 10 am departure, in front of Fulton Pub at 0618 SW Nebraska St., near the entrance to Willamette Park. There should be plenty of parking on Nebraska St. or other side streets.

Oct 8 (Wed) Evening Hike – Class B

We will hike approximately 6 miles in Forest Park and the West Hills with 500 foot elevation gain (not cumulative).
Depart: 6:00 PM from Wallace Park between NW 25th and 26th on NW Raleigh St.

Oct 11 (Sat) Nesika Membership Hike- Class B+

A beautiful trek up from Multnomah Lodge to the historic and tranquil grounds of Nesika Lodge, offering a babbling creek, lush woods and moderately vigorous elevation gain. Trails Club folks will be working there so it will be open for your visit. Bring water and lunch or snacks. This hike and lodge visit qualifies you for Trails Club membership if you wish to apply. Hike about 8 miles round trip with 1700-1800 feet elevation gain. Moderate-plus pace.

Oct 16 (Thurs) Adventures and Travel, "On and Off the Beaten Path in Europe"

Richard Gaunt and Terry Dewhurst will present a five-week tour of Switzerland, W. Austria, and S. Germany on a trip taken last summer. They will present a program on hiking in the Alps, and exploration of historic cities, i.e., Munich, Dinkelsbuhl, Salzburg, Wengen and Schaffhausen.
Social hour 6:15 p.m., program 7:00 p.m. at Rose Villa Rec Hall, 13505 SE River Rd, Milwaukie. Please bring a snack, or $1 donation for goodies. Guests are welcome!

PLEASE NOTE NEW BUILDING: Rose Villa Recreation Hall, Heading south on River Road in Oak Grove, turn right onto Courtney Road, then right onto Schroeder Lane, and look for parking spaces. Walk between unit 325 and unit 41 in the opposite building, veer to the right, and down a ramp to the basement. Heading North on River Rd, turn left on Courtney Road.

Oct 18-19 (Sat-Sun) Hike & Dine at Tyee

Please join two of our favorite cooks, Catherine Schiedler and Chaz Shaw, in a delectable, locally grown Northwest fresh dinner. The menu will be an organic salad bar, baked salmon with coucous, and fruit dessert. Breakfast will be served Sunday morning. Cost is $9 for dinner, $3 breakfast, $2 day use fee, guest $15 overnight; members $10. Dinner limited to 25 people so sign up early. The lodge will open at 10 a.m. on Sat.
