Gentle Reminders provides explanation of hike difficulty and hike guideline. Detail description of common meeting is available at Meeting Places.

April 2 (Wed) Morning Hike – Class A/B

We hike 4 to 6 miles, for 2 to 4 hours, usually in Forest Park, then lunch at a nearby cafe. If you would like to know the distance or difficulty of the hike, call the leader.

April 2 (Wed) Evening Hike – Class B

We will hike approximately 6 miles in Forest Park and the West Hills with 500 foot elevation gain (not cumulative).

April 3 (Thu) Tyee Lodge Planning Committee Meeting

Everyone is invited to come to the Mazama Mountaineering Center 327 SE 43rd Avenue Portland, OR for the Tyee Lodge Planning Committee Meeting at 7 p.m. Bring your ideas and suggestions for Tyee Lodge. We will be working on several projects during the summer and fall Work Parties!

April 6 (Sut) TCO Banquet

The 91st Annual Banquet will be Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Carvlin Hall, St Philip Neri Catholic Church. 2408 SE 16th Ave/Division, Portland. Social hour starts at 3:00 p.m., Dinner 4:00 p.m. Cost is $25. The sleaker will be Photographer David Cobb presenting Hiking in Iceland.

Note: No meeting at Friendly House this week!
We hike This hike will start at 9:30 at Sellwood River Front Park, then lunch at a nearby cafe. If you would like to know the distance or difficulty of the hike, call the leader.
Depart: 9:30 AM from Sellwood River Front Park (by the river, not on the hill).

April 10 (Thu) Kansas City Bike Ride - Class B+

This will be our first ride of the season, hopefully enjoying spring weather, budding trees and shrubs in rural WA County. The ride will take us from Hillsboro to Verboort via Kansas City Rd, about 20 miles, with very little elevation. Please bring a snack, water, spare tube or repair kit. Helmets are required.
Meet at: 10 AM at McKinney Park, 575 NW Dennis, Hillsboro, OR 97124 This park is 3 blocks from the Hatfield Government Center, the end of the MAX train.

April 12 (Sat) Catherine Creek Labyrinth Loop hike – Class B

Distance: 7.7 miles, 1200 feet gain.
This hike is described on the WTA site at: http://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/catherine-creek-the-labyrinth
Bring lunch or snack, water and dress for poison oak (long pants). No jeans or cotton please and no dogs. If the weather is really bad I will plan a close in alternate Gorge hike of the same length. Round trip mileage is 130 miles: please bring $15 for your driver for gas and bridge tolls.

April 13 (Sun) Eagle Creek to 4.5 Mile Bridge - Class A

This classic gorge hike follows Eagle Creek, passes spectacular waterfalls, clings to sheer cliffs and crosses over a deep slot-canyon. Not a good choice for those who fear heights. Vehicles will need to display a NW Forest Pass. Hike: 8 miles w/ 780' elevation gain Drive: 60 R/T miles

April 13 (Sun) Beaverton to Sherwood Bike Ride – Class B

A bike-friendly loop starting from Big Al's on SW Barrows Rd in Beaverton using the Fanno Creek Trail and Steets. Some flats and some hills. Some of the ride will be on the Fanno Creek path.

17 (Thu) Adventures in Travel, New York/New York

Audrey Perino and Ken Kane grew up four miles from Manhattan. Audrey loves the vibrancy of New York City. Ken prefers the solitude of upstate New York. They'll share both of their favorite places on April 17. They're busy compiling photos from many years of trips back to The Empire State to share images and places both iconic and relatively unknown.
Social hour begins at 6:15 p.m., program begins at 7:00 p.m. at Rose Villa Fellowship Hall, 13505 SE River Rd, Milwaukie. This is a great time for guests to meet Trails Club members.

April 18 (Fri) Willamette Valley Scenic Bikeway Ride - Class B

We will do a loop ride of 25 miles which uses the Willamette Valley Scenic Bikeway for about half of the miles and country roads for the rest, with a longer option of 10-20 additional miles for interested riders. Please e-mail leader indicating which option you are interested in, as well as carpool offers or requests.
