July 1 (Sat) Independence/Buena Vista Bike — Class B
Bike 28-30 miles through the fields, rolling hills and farmland of Polk
County. The ride starts at the Independence Riverview Park, Independence,
Oregon. We ride west through Monmouth, south to Helmick State Park and east
to the Buena Vista Ferry landing for a lunch stop along the Willamette River.
We then ride north to Independence to complete the loop.
Driving Directions:
From Portland drive I-5 South towards Salem. Take the Salem Parkway Exit,then
W on Hwy 22 over the Willamette River to Hwy 51. Go south to 200 S Main St
in Independence. The park is on the left. Turn left toward the river. Parking
is north of the boat ramp parking.
Depart: Independence Riverview Park.

July 7-9 (Fri-Sun) Tyee Work Weekend
Hi Fellow Trails Clubbers!
We had to cancel the June work party due to snow but Tyee awaits us in July.
We still have a long list of tasks so I am hoping for a good turn out.
In addition to our task list Catherine Schiedler will be doing some training for prospective host/cooks.
I will also provide lodge opening/closing training.
If this is your first work party, bring a sleeping bag and pillow plus overnight essentials.
Gloves and sturdy shoes are recommended.

July 13 (Thu) North Portland-Kelley Point Park Bike Ride - Class A
Moderately-paced, flat ride with a number of stops through North Portland.
Bring a lunch for a picnic at Kelley Point Park. Total mileage around 20 miles.
Please make sure your bike tires are pumped before you come. Call or email with questions.
I don’t ride in the rain or the excessive heat, so if weather is iffy,
check your email and/or call my cell to check if ride is a go.
Meet: University of Portland, 5000 N. Willamette Blvd, 9:45 am for a 10 AM departure.
Come in the main entrance off of Willamette Blvd and make the first right.

I am doing a last minute opening at Tyee on the 18th and 19th of July.
If anyone else wants to come they will need to provide their own meals.

July 18 (Tue) Inter-state Bridges Ride - Class B
We will ride a 28 mile loop from James Gleason Boat Ramp on Marine Drive
over the I5 bridge through downtown Vancouver (possible stop at Vancouver
Saturday market), up Fruit Valley Road to Burnt Bridge Creek Trail. We will
ride BBC Trail to 92nd Ave. and then to I205 for our return to James Gleason
Boat Ramp. Some of the ride will be on multi-use paths and some on roads.
Bring snacks and water. Check meet up for updates including weather cancellation.

July 22 (Sat) Milwaukie-Lake Oswego-Oregon City Loop Bike- Class C
This ride heads north from Milwaukie and crosses the Willamette River on
the Tilikum Crossing, whereupon we then take our bikes up the elevator to
the Gibbs St. Pedestrian Bridge. We then head south through Lake Oswego,
Marylhurst, and West Linn before crossing the Willamette again on the Arch
Bridge as we enter Oregon City. While in Oregon City, we’ll make a short
detour to First City Cycles Bistro for a break. From there, we make our way
to the bike/ped bridge over the Clackamas River at Cross Park in Gladstone
before heading back to Milwaukie on the Trolley Trail. Total distance is
approximately 32 miles, with cumulative elevation gain about 1,500 feet.
Optional lunch in downtown Milwaukie after the ride. Contact leader for more information.
Meet: 9 AM at Milwaukie Riverfront Park, McLoughlin Blvd and Washington St.
(there is a traffic signal.) From the north, enter the parking lot on the next driveway after the signal.
Coming from the south, take the turn lane before the Washington St. signal.

July 26 (Wed) Morning Hike – Class A/B
We begin our hike at 9:30 am and hike 4 to 6 miles, for 2 to 4 hours, somewhere
in the Portland metropolitan area, often in Forest Park.
We will begin at the Wildwood Trailhead that intersects with NW Springville Rd.
To reach this Trailhead, drive west from NW 23rd Ave and NW Lovejoy, which will
become NW Cornell Rd, and travel 3.3 miles to the junction with NW Skyline Blvd.
Turn right onto Skyline and travel 3.8 miles to NW Springville Rd. You will first
go past NW Springville Rd. on the LEFT—GO A LITTLE FARTHER PAST THIS and turn right
on the NW Springville Rd. on the right (look for the microwave tower above the trees).
Turn right (east) onto Springville and drive 0.1 mile to the parking area.
Please arrive by 9:15 so we can leave promptly at 9:30.

July 28-29 (Fri-Sat) Paradise Park Backpack - Class B
We will hike into Paradise Park on the west side of Mount Hood from Timberline
Lodge via the Timberline and Pacific Crest Trail. Views are great along the
trail and hopefully the flowers will be just coming out. Mileage hiking in
is about five miles with about 1000 feet of elevation gain and one small
creek crossing of the Zigzag River. Camp will be set up near where the old
Paradise Park stone shelter once stood.
If we can arrange a car shuttle, we will come out down the Paradise Park trail,
all downhill and approximately six miles.

July 28 (Fri) Willamette Valley Bike Ride - Class A/B
This ride will utilize the Willamette Valley Scenic Bikeway south of Champoeg State Park. There
are two routes with same beginning and end pieces, with the longer route adding 16 additional
miles in the middle. The route is largely flat on rural roads with scenic distant views of the
Cascade foothills. The shorter ride is 27 miles and the longer one is 43 miles.
E-mail leader to indicate that you are planning to ride (The ride may be rescheduled if weather is
poor), which length ride you plan to do, and for directions to the start point.
Depart: 10 AM, St. Paul, Bankers Cup parking lot.
