We begin our hike at 9:30 am and hike 4 to 6 miles, for 2 to 4 hours, somewhere
in the Portland metropolitan area, often in Forest Park. We then have lunch
at a nearby cafe.
This week’s hike is in Tryon Creek State Natural Area, 11321 SW Terwilliger Blvd, Portland OR 97219.
There is construction on Terwilliger Blvd, you cannot
approach the park from the south, you must come in from the north. Terwilliger is closed from south of the park entrance all the way to Lake Oswego.
We'll be on the lookout for trillium on the trails at Tryon Creek State Natural
Area. We'll meet in front of the Nature Center. Get to
the Nature Center early to use its restrooms so that we can step off at 9:30.
If there isn't too much rain between now and Wednesday morning, we'll be on dirt
trails. Boots and hiking poles are strongly recommended, because there are
a few downed trees and muddy patches along the trails. If the weather is
bad we'll use the paved bike trail for at least part of our walk. I scoped
part of the hike on Saturday and took some photos along the way. You can
see some of what you can expect here.
Please arrive ready to depart at 9:30 AM.

Deschutes River Hike - March 3,4,5
Eleven trails club members enjoyed a 3 day 23 mile hike on the lower Deschutes river canyon trail.
The weather was acceptable with minimum rain during the days.
Saturday nite was spent at the historic Harris Ranch. The hay barn was turned into a kitchen and group campground.
Enough firewood was found to provide a meeting and greeting spot for the evening and Sunday morning breakfast.
The last eleven miles hiked on Sunday was under bluebird skies.
Thank you all for making the hike. It was a great way to start off the backpack season.
