June 6-8 (Fri - Sun) Herman Creek to Wyeth Trail Campground Backpack - Class B
Herman Creek to Wyeth Trail Campground Via Green Mt and North Lake. Approximately
20 mile round trip. Group limit 12. We will start at Herman Creek campground
and hike up to Herman Camp on Friday night. Approximately 2 miles. We will
then head up the Gordon Creek trail passing Deadwook camp on our way to
Green Mt. We will enjoy an nice lunch on Green Mountain and head down to
North Lake to spend the night on Saturday. On Sunday we will hike down to
Wyeth Campground and either back to Herman Creek CG or do car shuttle on
Friday night. Bring cameras for great picture taking.

June 8th (Sun) Puget Island Bike Ride class B
We will ride between 25 - 30 miles across the island through beautiful farmland.
The roads on the island are flat. If we decide to ride through the Wildlife
Refuge through Cathlamet to Skamokawa the terrain has a couple slight inclines.
Lunch is either at the Cathlamet Marina or the County Park in Skamokawa.
We will meet at the Westport Ferry no later than 10 am as the ferry leaves at 10:15 am sharp and it only goes every hour.
The drive from Portland takes about 1.5 hrs. The Westport Ferry is located 10 miles west of Claskanie on Hwy 30.

Jun 12 (Thur) Peninsula Park to Pier Park Bike Ride - Class A
Please join me for an easy ride around North Portland. 15 miles round trip,
flat, mostly on residential, low traffic streets. Bring a lunch for a picnic
at Pier Park. Please make sure your tires are pumped. Maybe there will be
roses at Peninsula Park!

Jun 14 (Sat) Dog River Hike - Class A/B
Pleasant out-and-back hike through an ever-changing forest to great views
of Mt Hood's (hopefully, drier) east side. Please make reservations w/ the
Tyee Host if you would like to extend your day to include supper and/or lodging
at the Trails Club lodge near Government Camp. Vehicles will need to display
a NW Forest Pass. Hike: 7 miles w/ 1,600' elevation gain

June 14 (Sat) Ramona Falls Loop/Membership Qualifying Hike Class B
We’ll hike the loop trail to and from Ramona Falls on the west side of Mount
Hood. Loop trail leads up the Sandy River to the picturesque falls for lunch
and comes back a scenic trail through the woods on the return. Leader will
take moderate pace; hike is 7.1 miles with 1000 feet of elevation gain. If
you drive, your vehicle will need to display a NW Forest Pass at the trailhead.
Please make reservations w/ the Tyee Host (see below) if you would like to extend your
day to include supper and/or lodging at the Trails Club lodge near Government
Camp. This hike with visit to Tyee Lodge will fulfill membership requirements.
Leader will stay for dinner, but return to Portland after.
Depart from the Gateway Transit Center at 8:30. Register with leader before 9:00 PM on Friday (June 13th) as this hike goes into the Mt. Hood Wilderness and group must be held to 12 hikers.

Jun 14 (Sat) Membership Hike to Nesika - Class B
A beautiful trek up from Multnomah Lodge to the historic and tranquil grounds
of Nesika Lodge, offering a babbling creek, lush woods and moderately vigorous
elevation gain. Trails Club folks will be working there so it will be open
for your visit. Bring water and lunch or snacks. This hike and lodge visit
qualifies you for Trails Club membership if you wish to apply. Hike about
8 miles round trip with 1700-1800 feet elevation gain. Moderate-plus pace.

Namhea Lew will again cook her very delicious Korean menu of Grilled beef,
mung bean pancakes, sweet potato noodle salad, mixed Korean vegetables, Korean
cookies and tea for dessert. You will not want to miss this very special
dinner! Nancy Overpeck is the host, the cost is $22 for the weekend including
dinner and Sunday breakfast for members overnight. The cost for dinner $9
plus $2 day lodge fee. Overnight cost for guests is $27.

June 15 (Sun) Banks-Vernonia Bike - Class B
42 miles of gentle rail grade, paved trail, from Banks to Vernonia. Much
of the former rail line is in shady forests to keep you cools as you climb
the gentle grade up to Vernonia. Bring your lunch, snacks and water. You
can have lunch at one of the parks or plan on eating out. We will coordinate
a departure time.
To shorten the ride you may choose to begin the ride at one of the other
trail heads. I will carry the sign-up sheet with me. Let me know via email
if you are meeting us at one of the other trail heads.
Carpooling is recommended due to limited parking at the trail head. Email your contact
info and what part of town you live in and I will start a carpool email list.

June 18 (Wed) Solstice Triple Crown Hike (6-9 pm) - Class C
To celebrate the longest Wednesday of the year, let's hike the classic triple crown!
We will meet as usual at NW 25th and Raleigh at 6 pm, heading to Council Crest (the highest point of our hike),
continuing to Hoyt Arboretum and Pittock Mansion and returning to our starting point by about 9 pm.
Please carry water, snacks and a flashlight. Roundtrip mileage will be about 9 miles
with over 1000 feet of elevation gain and loss.

June 19 (Thur) Adventures in Travel - Rose Villa - Fireside Room

In July, 2013, five Trails Club Members backpacked the Loowit Trail around
Mt. St. Helens. This rough and often primitive trail offers a close up look
at the devastation caused by the 1980 eruption and the recovery of the landscape
since. There are many ways to access the Loowit and see the montain on easier
day hikes, and we'll look at those routes as well. Join us for a slide show
of this challenging three-day trip.
Social hour begins at 6:15 PM., program begins at 7:00 PM. at Rose Villa Recreation
Hall, 13505 SE River Rd, Milwaukie. This is a great time for guests to meet Trails
Club members. Please bring a snack, or consider a $1 donation to help defray expenses.
PLEASE NOTE NEW LOCATION: Rose Villa Recreation Hall, Fireside Room. Heading south on River Road in Oak Grove, turn right onto Courtney Road, then right onto Schroeder Lane, and look for parking spaces. We will ride out Clackamas River Dr and Springwater Rd toward to Milo McIver
State Park for lunch, returning on Redland Rd to Oregon City. Rolling hills

Jun 21-22 (Sat-Sun) Tyee Work Weekend
This will be our first work weekend for Tyee in 2014. Paul Snively is the
Work Party Leader. Joan and Gary Ragan are the Cooks. We will be having a
Planning Meeting to discuss summer projects and improvements on Saturday
at 1 p.m. Projects this summer include inventory of supplies, take down avalanche
signs, assess winter damage, bring in firewood and Spring cleaning, graveling
the driveway, plumbing of hot water tanks, North fire escape, kitchen porch
cleaning, bridge improvements, remolding men’s bathroom and replacing kitchen
floor. Lodging and meals free to volunteers. If West Leg Rd. is still closed,
hike up from the Timberline Rd on the winter trail. Plan on arriving for
lunch which will be served at 12 noon-ish. Planning Meeting at 1 PM Saturday.

June 23 (Mon) Cycling the Historic Columbia River Hwy-Moffitt Creek Section-Class A/B
Heading west from Cascade Locks the bike trail takes us to a historic bridge
over Moffitt Creek and a 1.6 mile segment of a newly dedicated (Sept, 2013)
Historic Columbia River Hwy pedestrian/bike path. This ride will showcase
a beautiful new path with restored views of Beacon Rock and scenic picnic/rest
areas before reaching a beautifully recreated bridge at McCord Creek . Those
wishing, will continue on the Old Hwy, passing another restored tunnel at
Oneonta Gorge, to Multnomah Falls before returning. Mileage: Cascade Locks/McCord
Crk, 15 miles round trip (RT), or Cascade Locks-Multnomah Falls, 27 miles
RT. Join me for a beautiful ride on a new jewel in the crown of Oregon’s
most magnificent historic highway now being brought back to life.

June 28 (Sat) McKenzie River Waterfalls/Clear Lake Hike - Class B
Join the group from the Trails Club McKenzie River Outing for this gorgeous
7 mile (additional 1 mile optional) hike with approximately 300 ft elevation
gain. We’ll view Sahalie Falls on the McKenzie River, then hike to Clear
Lake and complete the 5 mile loop around the lake, resting at Great Springs,
the headwaters of the McKenzie River and eat our lunches at Clear Lake Lodge.
At the end of the hike, an optional 1 mile roundtrip addition to view breathtaking
Koosah Falls will be available. Bring lunch, lots of water, sunscreen and
a hat, as half of the hike around Clear Lake is in direct sun.
Depart: 10:30 am near the restroom at Sahalie Falls parking lot between mileposts #5 and #6 on Hwy 126,
which is east from Eugene about 65 miles, or from Salem go 80 miles SE on OR 22 then about 5 miles S on Hwy 126.

June 30 (Mon) - Springwater Fairview Loop Bike - Class B
This hike is largely on bike trails - I205 bike path, Springwater Corridor,
Gresham-Fairview bike path, and Marine Drive bike path with some connecting
city streets. It is 25 miles and with 525 feet total ascent. We will stop
for lunch at Blue Lake Park. Register with leader via e-mail - may reschedule

June 30 (Mon) - Hike & Picnic; Hopkins Demo Forest - Class A
Walt Garvin will co-lead the hike and give us lots of information on the
workings and history of the Demonstration Forest. Hike 3-4 miles on trails
and gravel roads. I have also reserved the picnic area to use following the
hike. This event will be joint with the Primetimers Monday hikers. We will
cook veggie burgers and tube steaks on the BBQ and enjoy the peacefulness
of this beautiful place. Please bring a potluck dish to share. You may also
attend only the hike or only the picnic. Last year we donated a few dollars
each for the use of their facility which they really appreciated. Picnic
about noon under white canopy by office.

Depart 9:30 AM at Clackamette Park in Oregon City off of McLoughlin
Blvd, behind McDonalds. Jessie Tucker will meet you to carpool from there.
It is about a 20 minute drive.
The forest is located at 16750 S Brockway Road, Oregon City, If you drive directly,
take exit 10 on I-205. Follow the highway about 10 miles, turn left on Spangler
Road. When the road turns to your left (about 2 miles), turn right onto Brockway
Road and follow to end of road to the parking lot. Look for small Hopkins
signs. Meet 9:45 a.m.. Hike begins at 10:00 a.m.
