We’ll start in Lincoln Park in Forest Grove and pedal along the nearby back
roads, completing a loop to the south. About 35 miles. Relatively flat, but
some low rolling hills. Probably around 800’ of elevation gain. The roads
should be have relatively light traffic.

Oct 13 (Sat) Burdoin Mountain Washington Hike– Class A/B
This unique trip follows old roads, trails and mountain bike paths to afford
one of the better views of the Gorge. The hike starts at the White Salmon/Bingen
Hospital. Hike 8 miles round trip and 2100 feet elevation gain. Drive 140
miles round trip. Share bridge toll at Hood River.

Oct 13 (Sat) Nesika Lodge Membership Hike - Class B
A beautiful trek up to the historic and tranquil grounds of Nesika Lodge, resplendent with a babbling creek, lush woods and moderate elevation along the way. If you would like to become a
club member, this hike and lodge visit meet all membership requirements. Trails Club folks will be at the lodge working so it will be open for your visit. Bring water and lunch or snacks. Hike
about 8 miles round trip with about 1800 feet elevation gain.
Depart: Gateway Park & Ride by 8:30 AM, or Multnomah Lodge gift shop by 9:15 AM

Oct 13-14 (Sat-Sun) Nesika Work weekend
We will be working on getting the lodges ready for winter. We will finish
the previous projects; painting Men's outside of dorm, fixing tile inside
men's dorm doors, painting and finishing with the fire sealing of upper women's
dorm from lower women's dorm, bringing wood in and getting it split. We will
need to haul rock for road and soft spots on monster trail. We will need
volunteers to cut brush and clear trails. Come and join in the fun.

Oct 14 (Sun) Mt. St. Helens Hike to Sheep Canyon - Class C
An 11 mile loop hike with intact old-growth forests, desolated canyons, wildflower timberline meadows, and great views of the mountain. I have only hiked the first two and a half
miles of this trail so the rest of the hike is exploratory. There is a small creek crossing near the start with only a small log so you may need to walk in the water. Trailhead elevation
is 3200 feet, with 1900 feet elevation gain on the hike. Round Trip drive is 140 miles. Plan for a long day. Trailhead parking pass needed by drivers.

October 18th (Thu) Adventures & Travels: Slovenia
Come join us for a "Walking the World" adventure in Slovenia's beautiful Julian Alps with Eleanor Wiese! There is hiking on rocky trails with occasional ladders,
steel cables, or overhanging wooden platforms as hiker aids. Also, there are waterfalls, gorges, and caves to see – with a bit of Vienna, Ljubjana, Bled, Piran and Venice!

October 20th (Sat) Gnarl Ridge Hike - Class B
Enjoy the cooler weather, companionship, jaw-dropping views and two (hopefully,
benign) crossings of Newton Creek on this out-and-back hike located on Mt
Hood's southeast side. Please make reservations w/ the host if you would
like to extend your day to include supper and/or lodging at the Trails Club's
Tyee Lodge near Government Camp. Wilderness restictions limit goup size to
12. Vehicles will need to display a NW Forest Pass. Hike: 9.4 miles with 2,300'
elevation gain Drive: 110 round trip miles
Depart: 8:00 AM from Gresham Village Shopping Center.

October 20th (Sat) Hike to Lower Twin Lakes - Class A
Hike from the Frog Lake Trailhead to Lower Twin Lakes. Hike 5 miles round trip with 450 feet elevation gain. If it is a warm fall day, possibly cool off in the lake. Round trip driving
distance 124 miles. NW Forest Pass required for your car. If planning on going to the Hike & Dine event at Tyee Lodge after the hike, be sure to register per instructions for that event.
This leader plans to go to the Hike & Dine and spend the night at Tyee.

Oct 27 (Sat) Hood River Mt. Hike plus a Riverfront Park – Class A
This view hike above Hood River is lovely in all seasons. After the hike
there will be a possibility of visiting some orchards—getting apples and
pears. A short walk along the river in the water front park in Hood River
is another possibility. Hike 5/6 miles round trip with slight elevation gain.
Drive 125 miles round trip.
